10:2
What is 10:2?
The 10:2 initiative is a 12-week long season of intentional evangelism within our church. It is very easy for churches to become inward focused, and neglect the lost. Therefore, we must be diligent and intentional when it comes to reaching the lost. We are asking the members of the church to make 3 commitments from now until Christmas.
1. I will pray for my church every day at 10:02
Jesus says this in Luke 10:2 “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."
If we as a church want to reach the lost of this community with the love of Christ, we must start first with prayer. The harvest belongs to God. The laborers belong to God. We must be earnest in our prayers if we hope to be a small part of what God is doing in Franklin County .
2. I will invite 10 friends to a worship gathering
In John 1, Philip seeks out Nathanael with the news of the Messiah, and when Nathanael has doubts, Philip says "come and see." Inviting others to church is one modern way to say, “Come and see.” Come hear the gospel, come see the love of Christ among His people. And yes, the gospel should be proclaimed in the streets. And yes, the love of Christ should be extended by Christians in our homes and in our workspaces, outside of our church services. But it is most visible, when the body of Christ, the church, gathers together to worship him.
3. I will share my faith story 2 times
1 Peter 3:15 says this:
but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
Peter assumes unbelievers will see your hope and ask about it. You are to give a reason, not merely an argument, but an explanation rooted in Christ’s work in you. Your story is one way you give that reason, testifying how God saved you, changed you, and gave you hope.
We hope to be a church that is earnestly praying for the lost, praying for the laborers, and praying for revival.
A church that loves our lost neighbors, inviting them to worship with us, not to fill our own seats, but to grow God's kingdom.
A church where the members share their testimonies outside of our 4 walls, with people that would never otherwise step foot inside of a church building.
